STAR WARS VISIONARIES and NANCY DREW GRAPHIC NOVELS

STAR WARS VISIONARIES
includes "Sithisis" by Maverix artist DEREK THOMPSON!

They've been responsible for some of the most dazzling and awe-inspiring visuals ever put to film, and now the concept artists behind the Star Wars prequels are bringing their considerable talents to comics. Just in time for Star Wars: Episode III, the wildly gifted mind of the Lucasfilm art department and visual effects powerhouse Industrial Light & Magic come together to tell their own Star Wars tales in this compilation of short stories.

Given free reign to explore any and every aspect of the Star Wars universe, each artist offers a new twist or a deeper view into that galaxy far, far away. Nowhere else will you find a more pure or more different look at George Lucas' enduring creation than through the eyes of the Star Wars: Visionaries.

PHASE III

Tsunami Relief Online Auction

On Monday April 4th, a lot of great artwork is up for grabs on EBAY. And believe me, the art still for sale is by no means "left overs". A lot of it could not be hung on the night for lack of space, or because it was submitted too late and unframed. In some cases a few pieces by artists who had donated multiple pieces, were held back to give space to artists who had only donated one piece. If you (or anyone you know) were interested in our auction but were unable to attend on Feb 4th, then here is your chance support the relief in Southeast Asia and make off with some amazing art.

To get a preview of the art that is going to be auctioned off, visit our online gallery at:

eBAY ONLINE AUCTION

From this online gallery you can simply click the link "Bid Now on eBay" and you will be sent to the official bidding page on eBay.com. (As of right now the links are inactive or send you to an old post)

Maverix would like to thank everyone involved; the donating artists, the buyers, the people who helped spread the word, and anyone who helped in the planning, framing and hanging of the show.

Tsunami Auction follow up

Maverix Studios was extremely well hung on Friday night. Artwork by around 80 artists totalling 22o pieces went on auction. All in all it went off very well given the short turnaround on the planning. Lots of fun was had by everyone, and by the end of the night there were plenty of happy looking bidders heading out the door with armloads of art.

Some of you bidders may have left early and may still be unsure if your bid was the winning bid. Some donors may be curious as to how much their pieces went for. Tomorrow we will post a comprehensive list of pieces, their donors, purchasers and final prices. So you will be able to see whether you got that piece you were so hot for. If you can't wait that long, then by all means call Maverix (415 522 1717) to find out.

As to the BIG QUESTION: "How much was actually raised?" The auction-money is still being counted, and some payments have yet to be made, but the total of money paid, and counted THUS FAR is $13,500. By tomorrow we should have a better idea of the total. We have an estimate but don't want to post it until the cash is in hand, or we have had a commitment from the highest bidder, and we can make sure that there are no hanging chads or whatever. Even that figure will not be the GRAND TOTAL, as that won't be possible to decide until after...

PHASE 3: THE ONLINE AUCTION. A lot of great artwork is still up for grabs and will go on EBAY later this week. And believe me, the art still for sale is by no means "left overs". A lot of it could not be hung on the night for lack of space, or because it was submitted too late and unframed. In some cases a few pieces by artists who had donated multiple pieces, were held back to give space to artists who had only donated one piece. If you (or anyone you know) were interested in our auction but were unable to attend on the night, then please stay tuned for updates about the remaining art to be sold..

Maverix would like to thank everyone involved; the donating artists, the buyers, the people who helped spread the word, and anyone who helped in the planning, framing and hanging of the show.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's update!

FEB 3 ARTIST UPDATES: Ronnie del Carmen, Jenn Farrington, Aaron McBride, Bill Cone, Anthony Hon.

Well peoples, Maverix Studios is steadily filling up with artwork, and it is being matted, framed and hung about the place. We've been doing our best to give you a preview of what's on offer here on this page, but there is so much of it coming in now that it is hard to stay on top of the updates (It may even be a challenge to find space to hang it all). At last count we had over 160 pieces of artwork donated. We only have about 90 pieces posted on this page so far. We can now officially declare a success for PHASE ONE: ASSEMBLING the SWAG!

Now on to PHASE TWO: the BIDDING WAR! If we have as much support from art-buyers as we've had from art-makers, then we should raise quite a bit of money! So spread the word, and drag all your art-lover friends along, be they lovers of the high-brow or the low-brow, the high-price or the low-price. We have something for everyone.

There have been updates all up and down the page so take your time and CHECK them out. Speaking of checks, don't forget to bring your CHECKbook on Friday. See you there!
